Playing old and new games problem

Well first of all great forum, been reading about and its been really helpful thank you!
Next, i'd like to share with you my desktops Spec:
<LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Black Quad Core Processor AM3 (3.20GHz, 8MB Cache) <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium Edition - 64bit English <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>New Stylish Mini-Tower Micro ATX Chassis with 300W PSU - Piano Black <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>ASUS M4A785T-M Mainboard (DDR3), with integrated HDMI/DVI/VGA Graphics - MATX <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>8GB 1333MHz Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM - ( 4x2GB ) <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive with 32MB Buffer <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>22x Dual Layer DVD Writer Super Format +R/-R/RW/RAM <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>512MB ATI Radeon HD4200 Graphics - Hybrid CrossFireX™ and Full HD Support (M4A785T-M) <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>7.1 High Definition onboard sound card - for 8 Channel Cinema sound <LI style="PADDING-BOTTOM: 5px" type=disc>iiyama 24" full HD monitor
Now with that in mind, i've been trying to play:
and all 3 of these games i am experiencing jerkyness during game play or especially
- supreme commander
- Call of Duty 4
- Battlefield vietnam
when you have to move about alot (Particularly worse when playing CoD4 and battlefield vietnam)
Supreme commander seems to work fine if i run it on lower settings but obviously buying a more powerful machine i expected to run it on a much higher level especially when my laptop can run some of these games better!
I need advice on what i can do to fix these problems i am experiencing and whether its a particular hardware or software i am running thats causing it in which case i'll have to consider a replacement part obviously.
Hope you can help
Thanks
Jay
