Call of Duty 4 - DirectX 9 will not install

I got the retail version of Windows 7 yesterday for Christmas, so I got rid of the RC and put on the real thing. However, when I try to install CoD 4, DirectX 9 will not install, meaning I can no longer play CoD 4. Does anyone know how to fix thi?

Why would you want DX 9? Download a newer one. If your graphics card doesnt support one, try to install the directX before you install CoD, so that you can tell the installation that you already have the software

During installation, I always get the message that DirectX 9 will not install and when I try to run the game, I get an error message that says a file (which I think is related to DirectX 9) cannot be found and that CoD 4 will not run. I don't think CoD 4 can run without DirectX 9.

That kinda worked. Installing it with the .exe file didn't, but I Googled the problem and I found instructions on how to manually extract the file.

    Thanks for the responses everyone.
