Transfer Saved Game Data from XP

I'm going to keep my saved game profile data on an external HDD, reformat my internal HDD, and install Windows 7 64-bit (previously Windows XP SP3 32-bit).
After I reinstall my game (Mass Effect to be specific), will I be able to use the profile data I kept?
I know that 7's game installation process and directories are different...

I'd guess so, I didn't have mass effect when I had XP. With 7 the save directory is "C:\Users\Bill\Documents\BioWare\Mass Effect\Save\". Is it the equivalent on XP? "C:\Documents and Settings\user name\my documents\bioware\mass effect\save\" I believe.

    Yep, that's the directory. Thanks.
But is that really all I need to do? I have suspicions that it's not that simple. Then again, I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to anything software related.

I backed up a few of my saves from other games when I did a fresh 7 install and it worked fine. I would guess Mass Effect will too. Finding the right directory to put the saves was the tricky part( I never used vista, strait from XP to 7 ).
