Gears of War: WINDOWS 7 run fail

hi everyone
got some problems with starting GoW on my machine... that is it doesnt run at all :(

i think it's all about win7 64bit and GoW uncompability, seems that the game is 'too old' for windows 7

instalation gone corectly, but when i try to run the game, following message appears:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Gears of War\Binaries\wargame-g4wlive.exe: You cannot run the game with modified executable code. Please reinstall the game."
Reinstalled the game and nothing changed. I visited dozens of forums, GoW official website and nothing helped! does it run on win7 at all??!

please help if anyone found a solution

Try installing it in Vista/XP compatibility mode.

I'm affraid that GoW doesn't provide such an option... or maybe should do it somehow special??

it is original one... bought it 'bout 1.5 year ago. on my old cpu worked correctly (XP proffesional was there) now it cannot with win7 :-/

When you put in the disk, click explore instead of double clicking. Manually find the installer file, then right click on it and go to properties. Find the Compatibility tab, and choose Vista or XP.

I'm sorry Lordbob75, but it seems that this is not a solution... installing and trying to run the game in XP/Vista compatibility didn't change the damn thing

thanks a lot anyway for support

Did you follow the exact instructions including all folders and not starting the game along with getting the patch?

I would tried those two solutions :
- Disable UAC and try again
- Right click shortcut, then, run as admin.

yes, I did exactly as it was said, including deleting all the things about GoW in registry... gotta try the solution with disabling UAC

finally found the solution for this problem... and this solution seemed to be pointless at the begining, but eventually that was the only one left -> go back in time to the year I bought the game... that is 2008. I simply set the date exactly 2 years ago and game got no problems with starting anymore.

Type UAC into the start menu and choose options for adjusting it. Did that actually work?

got no idea what else to do...

you have to put the original "startup.exe" file (Not cracked one!) into your "gears of war/bineries" first. after that run the "GearsPC_TU3_Microsoft.exe" . this can help you to install the patch but it does't guarantee that you can play the game. after that you have to put the "startup.exe" (This time the cracked one that you can find it in the net and download it) in the mentioned directory. I have done all of these steps in WinXP and it worked but in 7 !! :D I am as same as you :D If you find any solution please tell me too ;)

Lag issue Gears of war (Windows)

I play this game on windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the only issue i have is accessive lag during gameplay even playing single player other than that the game runs fine

I was wondering if there is a way to run the game in compatability mode for an older OS

I also play Diablo 2 on the same computer and noticed that it runs almost flawlessly when i run it in compatability mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
