Windows 7 In-Game Resolution problem

Hey guys, I just installed windows 7 home premium on my laptop. Before i upgraded, I had Vista. I have an Nvidia 8800M GTX and my screen resolution is 1920x1200. When I used to play games on vista, if I set the in game resolution to say.. 1600x1200, or 1024x1200, it would work fine, but now in Windows 7, when the in-game resoloution is less than 1920x1200, there are black margins on the left and right, no matter what resolution it is (less than 1920x1200). I normally like running my games in a resolution less than 1920x1200 so it will have better performance, but now it is just annoying. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks a bunch.

P.S. I have tried Nvidia Scaling in the nvidia control panel , but when i click on use scaling and click "apply", and then say "Yes" i want to use the current settings, it just reverts right back to "use my displays built-in scaling". Any other ideas??

It's showing the bars because 7 doesn't stretch like vista does, try a lower resolution that is still in the same aspect ratio as 1920x1200(16:10) like 1680x1050, 1440900, or 1280800. Report back if that helps.

Edit: There are also other threads discussing this, The XP and Win 7 Widescreen Dillemma for example.

Nvidia Scaling does not work for me either in Windows 7 or Win Vista. Has anyone any idea how to get it to work? Am using latest drivers on GTS250 card.
