Not Sure What to make of this

I am experiencing Serious CPU usage in Games that should not use it.
When Running Games with settings maxed it eats about 80-95% of my CPU.
This is a little puzzling as I have a Phenom II X4 940 Denab and a GTX 295.
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Latest Drivers Latest DirectX.
    Any Ideas Suggestions?

    Welcome, Admiral!

Without knowing what game you are playing, I cannot say for sure, but that does not seem unreasonable to me. Try looking up the game online, and seeing if that is normal.

    Hope this helps,

Do you mean the CPU or the GPU. On either one, thats not unreasonable. Remember that games require a lot of resources, especially with maxed out settings.

That would be all well and dandy normally but I used to be running XP and it used no where near this amount of CPU. And I Mean The CPU. My GPU is doing fine.

Were you running XP on the same machine or a different one?

That might be why. If the game was designed for Vista or 7, and you were playing it on XP, perhaps it disabled some of its processor intensive features.

Also, 7 does use more resources than XP, so resource consumption in general will be higher.

But, as Coolness said, 80-95% is normal for games.

Did you have the same settings on? Or lower?
