    Xbox 360 Controllers

I don't own a Xbox 360 or have used the controllers with a PC, my question is will any Xbox 360 controller work with windows or does it have to be a specific one?

You cannot have a wireless controller connected via the plug and charge cable.
You can buy a special controller with the usb connector.
But the wired controllers work :)

I've been looking on ebay for a cheapo used / new one, do 360 controllers wear out quickly? Think I should shell out the extra $10 for a new one?

The buttons and such may be bad.
You can get a new shell for it and make it all like new :)

I would yes. I have a wired one but prefer to use the Dualshock 3.

ive just bought an official ''wireless'' XBOX controller for use with my PC, after buying it i realized it wouldn't work straight out of the box, but i was directed to one of these.....

    wireless XBOX receiver

these are compatible with PC gaming....

The official controllers are built like tanks. (I've lost count the amount of time I've knocked it on the floor ) The buttons are fine, but after very, very heavy usage the analogue thumb controllers can get a little 'loose' after a while.

They still work perfectly though. They are great, especially for Console port games.

I was originally going to grab a wireless receiver, but at the time I couldn't bloody find any

Wired is still just as good. Has a very good length to them.
