I play a game called Habbo. I can see and do special characters (by using ALT codes) properly on their website. However, when I am playing on their game client, I can only see the special characters being done by other users. When I try to do the special characters on the game client, it doesn't work properly. If I try to do a heart, it will come out as ' or when I try to do the TM sign it will come out as !". I can see it and other people can see it come out as that. I'm thinking this could be because I have Windows 7 Home Premium and can't install a language pack. But how would I be able to do it on their website and not their game client if it was the language pack? Help please!

    Hi and welcome

did it ever work in win 7? it might by working on their site because the character set for the "special" character is provided by them in the web page html.

Thank you for the welcome. No, it's never worked in Windows 7. I got this new computer with Windows 7 Home Premium about 2 months ago, and it never worked correctly. My old computer with Windows XP Professional did not have this problem. Is there anyway that *I* could fix this problem, or am I gonna have to deal with this unfortunately?

    Try the compatibility mode
    1. Right click on the game Icon and select properties.
    2. Click on the tab "Compatibility"
    3. Put a check in the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    4. Click on the pop down box thing under it and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)"
    5. Click apply

It's a game that pops out into a new window on the website, so I can't do the 'run in compatibility mode'.
