NeverWinter Nights Diamond - Windows 7 Ultimate

    Hello,
First of all, I have already read a couple of windows 7 forums about Neverwinter Nights, and all say the same thing. To upgrade using a BioWare Patch to version 1.69 and that then it works fine.

I have already done that but still the game wont start. The funny thing is that it installed perfectly, and when I execute it the first screen with the PLAY, TOOLSET, UPGRADE, etc. pops up. When I select PLAY, the neverwinter nights black logo shows, and then suddenly closes. Windows does not show any warning whatsoever. But if I go to the Task Manager, the application appears to be in the process list.

Any clues? I have tried running under Windows XP SP2, SP3, and also running under ADMINISTRATOR.

    Thanks
    Radjan

Have you ever made it work on this machine in any OS? Your specs are really low. It could be that the menu is graphics intense, and thus cant start coz your specs are low. Also update your Graphics card drivers and directX please.

I know I have a crummy computer, but I have been able to run pretty good games. With windows XP I played Neverwinter Nights with great graphics, no problems. I even ran Need for Speed Blacklist on this PC.

    Ok I updated video drivers...
    And I have Direct X 11
    I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (6.1 Build 7600).

The game still does not work. Should I try using a virtual computer with Windows XP emulator?

    Thanks for your help...

First try compatibility mode with vista (rightclick icon/file -> properties -> comatibility mode vista SP 2) and running as admin. If you have Win 7 pro -> you can try XP mode

    Hello,
I have tried Compatibility with XP SP2, Vista, and all...the game still crashes. The wierd thing is that it opens up the menu, when I hit play, it shows me the neverwinter nights logo, and then it closes itself, with no alert or message popup. After all this, when I look in the taskmanager, the application still stays open (nwn.exe appears in the list of procedures running).

Thanks again for all your help!

    Also having this issue

    Running Windows 7 Home Premium
    Direct X 11
    10 G Ram
3.4 Ghz AMD processor 64 bit
ATI HD 5770 dual link graphics - 60hz seems to be the only rate available.
    2 HP HPS 2331 monitors.

I get the same exact scenario as described here. The menu shows up. when play is pressed, the NWN logo splash screen appears and then it shuts down.

I have also tried running in nearly all compatibility modes, with and without running as administrator, also at various different resolutions. Installed patch 1.69, etc.

Here is the error that appears on the event log for it.

Faulting application name: nwmain.exe, version: 1.6.9.0, time stamp: 0x486cfadc
Faulting module name: atioglxx.dll, version: 6.14.10.9606, time stamp: 0x4b73700e
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
    Fault offset: 0x00030cf0
    Faulting process id: 0x4bc
    Faulting application start time: 0x01cb258fc2b04295
    Faulting application path: C:\NeverwinterNights\NWN\nwmain.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\atioglxx.dll
    Report Id: 02d280e3-9183-11df-9afd-1cc1de50bd80

Hope this helps, I would really like to be able to play this game.
