Windows 7: Recomendation Needed For A Different Type Of Game

I have never cared much for FPS games, although I realize that killing is probably going to be an element in most games made nowadays. However, I'm getting particularly bored with killing cartoon critters. Therefore, I'm hoping that someone can recommend something new that doesn't focus on killing. I'm not talking about some kind of card game, but something that creates a new kind of challenge, without warping one's mind. For me, games are merely a means of killing time (the kind of killing that I'm best at). I know that what I'm asking for is not very specific, because I have no inkling of what I'm looking for.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition - beware you need a very good system for it - I had to turn down the view distance in my setup and disable AA and AF (to 1). Runs great though.

I doubt that my system is what you would call "a very good system", and I'm not ready for any kind of major upgrade, so I'll put that recommendation on the shelf.

Heard nothing but good things about the game...

Independent developer...has had constant ratings of over 9.0 (out of 10)...piracy rate vs. buying of the game is at 90 PERCENT!!!
