White screen "overlay" while playing World of Warcraft
Hi,
I know there are already a few posts about white screens around as I've already tried looking for a solution on google and found my way here in the process. However, from what I've read so far.. some believe this is browser related (but people are having this with both IE and Firefox) and the rest seem to have a complete system failure from it and need to manually power down their machines. Granted, i am also having the non-respsonsive firefox from time to time but not often enough to make me worry about it. Where as with the games side of it, this is happening every 5-10 minutes.
So the symptoms are that my computer hangs for approximately 30-90 seconds and a white "misty overlay" covers everything on screen. I can still see everything behind this misty overal, my cursor is still responsive and the windows key will bring up the programs menu but other than that its basically frozen - no applications will open up and those already open are unresponsive. I was running Win7 x86 up until last night and this was not an issue. As soon as I've switched over to x64 this has jumped up on me. All drivers and software have been updated and running, where possible, the x64 versions of each.
Unfortunately I can't take screenshots of what I'm seeing since pretty much everything is locked out but I'm basically wondering if anyone has seen this problem too and if so, is there a solution without reverting to x86 win7.
System specs have been filled out to the best of my knowledge. As I'm running a laptop just now I don't have every brand/model detail available so i've filled in with what information i can.
On a side note: I noticed in another post, somewhere, it being asked if the HDD LED went on permanently without interruption during one of these pauses. I've just noticed that mine infact does stay on solidly for the duration.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Wolf
