    Modern Warfare 2 Gets PC Patch

    While the "Ice Skating" problem has been fixed, Infinity Ward has found enough other problems in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to prepare another patch for the game. This time around, the patch is for the PC only and is delivered via Steam. Like always, "The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted," so all you have to do is log in to your Steam account and log out, and voila, the patch is part of your game. As listed on Steam's News page, the changes made to the game are:

    Care Package, Emergency Airdrop, and Sentry Gun marker grenades sprint speed normalized;
    Sentry Guns: Improved placement detection, preventing cases of Sentry Guns inside geometry;
    Model 1887: Bling using Akimbo and FMJ combination now has same range and damage as non-Bling Model 1887s;
    Improved player collision removing cases of getting into geometry and 'elevators;'
    Mouse latency tweaks for more mouse movement consistency;
    Fixes to prevent various texture and XP hacks.

    A surprising presence on this list is the recurrence of the 1887 Akimbo, as, apparently, there are still problems with this weapon. For the Akimbo, balance has been an issue since day one in MW2, with the weapon proving to be either a "cheat" if you're using it, or a nightmare if it's used against you. A nice entry on the list is to see that the latency problem is being addressed, and even if it's just for the mouse, it will be nice to see some improvement in online gameplay, as far as accuracy goes.

    As the last entry on the Steam update list, Infinity Ward takes its place in the endless cat-and-mouse marathon of cheats and fixes, trying to keep up with the endless number of exploiters and hackers out there on the servers. But no matter how hard developers will try, they'll never be able to be one step ahead of the hacking community, the same one that released day-one cheats and a dedicated server workaround just a few days later.

    Truth be told, the problem isn't a huge difference in skill or ability, it's got more to do with the red tape and protocol developers have to go through, compared to the complete, anarchic freedom of the custom scene.

    Keeping up with this game is like watching a car wreck... over and over. Of all the problems this game has, I'd say the issues this patch addresses is at the bottom of the list... but then again... that's par for the course for the current group at IW.

    HAHAAHA, No kiddin.
    IW has let down the PC Gaming community. Im sure some of you have already heard about the changes in the game before MW2 even came out. I get my updates from Bash and Slash. I still got the game cause I love the COD series story lines and action scenes. But as far as the online experience, its a disappointment. They not only took out a bunch of great features that made the game, but they have this Xbox Live like connection play this is just BAD! Sadly dont be surprised if you play and IWNet picks the worst connection for you. It picks the best connection, but its not the best for everyone, as in like saying; In a 8 player match up, it may end up picking someone in Russia cause they have a better internet than you in the USA, and 6 others around Europe. With Dedicated servers this would not be a issue cause you would just pick the server you like with low ping, the gametype you like, and the mod you like playing on.

    I think I understand what IW was trying to do, but I dont like the fact they did it like this, at least have 2 different MP modes, 1 for "match making - like Xbox Live" and another for "Dedicated Server - MOD supported". We can argue the many possible reasons they change the game for PC like this, but I think they tried to make the game balanced, so its fare for all players and people wouldnt have to spend money on dedi's. Its fine if you just play online just for the hell of it. But if you like me and use Filmtweaks, and commands like /snap 30, /com_maxfps 250, /cl_maxpackets 84, etc... You gain a big enough advantage over the average players that doesnt even know how about those command, and much less how to correctly use them and what there for. Using those commands, (for the people whom doesnt know about them) gives you more FPS, and better hit registration.

    Steam makes it easy for users to get patch forced updates, unlike before, people whom didnt want to update to a newer version would just stay behind. And its cool cause there's dedi's for every version of the COD series out there. But now with "match maker", everyone has to be updated so your game gets auto patched. This is a cool new feature, although they should still release a patch to allow us to use the "~" console!

    Anyways to end my long post, Lol, one of the latest news is IW is now backing down for continuing to develop any more COD's, and Activision will be letting someone else, (Im guessing other then "Treyarch") to develop more to the series. Oh well, IW started COD, and ends it with MW2. So no MW3...? Lol, it didnt look like IW wanted to make games for PC based only anymore and now mainly focuses on everything for the consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3.

    I wish they would fix the game so when someone is coming at you and you are shooting them that they slow down a little bit. It seems like I am always getting stabbed by someone running right at me and I am shooting them but they are still able to maintain speed and kill me.

    Lol. I know its annoying, but it is fun. Sorry I think its part of the game not a glitch, you cant slow someone down by shooting them while they rushing in for a knife kill. Too bad this game doesnt take realism to the next level, so when you DO shoot someone, depending where you shot them they will react to it. Limp, non-stop bleed, etc. Lol it wouldnt make the game much fun for the average user. But ever since COD4 its easy to rush in with a knife while someone is shooting at you in non-hardcore matches. And with MW2 is much more complex, since this game has mix connections, ether you have a good or bad and the enemy has good or bad. Makes a difference if you will kill the enemy before he kills you, and on top of that... Theirs a perk to extend bash range, so run away and/or dodge, you may still get knifed!
