Windows 7: my win 7 does not install Age of Empires!

I just bought Age of Empires (very cheap! Only 50 Saudi Riyal which is about 15 US Dollar) and I tried to install it in my win 7 machine however I got a message that Age Of Empires is not installing, press O.K. to exit!


I am not sure why do i get this problem but i think this game is a 32-bit operating system game and mine is 64-bit.

I know it is not a 64/32 bit issue, because I successfully installed it on my 64-bit system.

Are you running setup.exe from the CD? Open up the drive in My Computer and manually run the installer.

Looks like you need to install the main version of AOE III before you can install the expansion pack.

I thought you can run it without the main one.

Unfortunately not. The expansion packs are considered an upgrade from the base version.
