The source is me. You would hope I know how to analyze software since Im a developer @ Process Hacker.
Do I need to spell out in what Steam is doing?
Your game files where fine.
You updated the client and suddenly it wants to redownlaod a whole game.
You download the files then later decide to op-out of the beta and it suddenly it wants to redownlaod the whole game yet again.
But it only does it for some games and not others and it only does it once when you opt-in and then once again when you opt-out.
Put two and two together and the result is changes to either the steam API's these games use or how steam does its authenticy, file integrity or content checks that required re-downloading new files because the existing files failed a new requirement.
Steam didn't randomly decide a random bunch of files needed re-downloading, other game files like TF2 and CSS are fine so why did it pick just specific titles? Steam would have redownloaded every game if there was indeed a bug and redownloaded the files everytime you launched Steam or every-time you attempted to play the game but its not doing that so its not a bug, it was an intentional change.
the navigation to the games list still annoys me, only way tog et to it is to open steam, there is no right click on the notification. looks great, just needs a way to get to what i use most.
EDIT:never mind library opens it up. i did nor realize, library doesn't make me think of games i guess.
I like the Grid view, have no games installed so far, so will give this a try tonight...
looks great. but is there a way to change it back to classic version again?
This broke my Steam install, and my Steam account.
I cannot log into the Steam website, and my install (removed and reinstalled Steam) says I have no games....
