    Strange, I never had any problems with Doom 3 or Resurrection of Evil. Will install it again today and check out which version I had.

    Maybe you need to update Doom 3

    I have the steam version running perfectly in Win 7 Pro 64-bit. You wont be able to run doom3 in XP mode, its not meant for running games.

    @Froggy,

    Have you tried installing the game with admin privileges - Run as Administrator

    download the official 1.3.1 patch for doom 3 - this was required to make it run properly on vista & will enable it to run on windows 7 as well - also do you have any of the specular / open gl mods installed if so & you have a newer graphics adapter they wont work properly & cuuold cause the game to crash - so far the only ones i can get to work are the ambient light mods as these are direct 3d mods not open gl (its nothing to do with win 7 its all to do with the old open gl not working properly with the newer cards / drivers

    PC gaming is such a drag! I gave up 2 years ago. My wife urged me to stop dinking around with PC based games (too many hassles) and just get a PS3. I did and now I spend ZERO time making a game work. Like apple says, "it just works". 100% of my gaming is devoted to actually PLAYING the game. Sort of like going from used cars to new cars. the used cars need periodic work. Being an ex auto tech, the last thing I want to do is work on my own cars. New vehicles solve that problem! Just like a PS3 will solve gaming issues. or the Xbox (not my kinda machine--23%failure rate and noisy, no blu ray, no onboard wifi)
    Yeah but as an old PC gamer. I'm sure you can see the difference...on cpu games are graphicly superior normally and the gameplay is better on my opinion since a keyboard and a mouse are superior to a joystick control.

    You must also mention the quality of the games.
    I abandonned console after Nintendo 64/sega saturn era simply because most of games that came out were bad and even back then PC games were much more develloped than their console version.

    But I also understand what you mean by spending your time to play...that's the good part of the console. Only playing, no worries lol

    :)
