Windows 7: Whats best gaming mouse?

I will have to say that imo, LOGITECH G9. Want a good deal, get it on Ebay. I got mine for around £50. Never regreted it!!!

G9's are horrible, everyg9 will wreck after a few weeks, because all the lasers or something become faulty also read it on the logitech forums written by a moderator. Go for razer or something.

I'm a little late for the OP, but I'll go ahead and make a few points anyway.

Actually, many professional gamers don't go above 800/1600 DPI so anything you hear about "highest dpi possible" is more or less an on-going gaming myth.

Somethings to watch for:

Form Factor - Two very notable brands, Logitech and Razer, both make mice that have very different form factors. Going from a Logitech to a Razer and vice versa isn't just a matter of plugging the new one in. It will feel different just by the shape your hand conforms to on the mouse. Some people will get over it quickly but others will constantly be bothered by it.
Mouse pad - If you're getting a laser mouse (and as a gamer you probably will be) then you want a decent mouse pad. Now this doesn't mean you should go out and buy some obscenely priced one, but don't skimp too much.
Corded - For some it's common sense, for others it should be mentioned--get a mouse with a cord.
Beware on-the-fly DPI changing mice - Certain mice will let you to press a couple mouse buttons together to change the DPI of the mouse on the fly. The problem with this is that many games also have you push mice buttons together. There are few things more frustrating than having your DPI go crazy in the middle of an online game because of a mouse "feature."

Can you explain your "opinion"?

I myself have been using Logitech cordless mouse for quite a few years now and have never had a gaming/performance issue.

Since 2002...
Logitech Optical Trackman - 2 years
Logitech MX 1000 - 3 years
Logitech MX Revolution - Nov 07 till present

While there's nothing wrong with a corded mouse I personally prefer cordless.

Batteries

I have been in a game and had the battery die on my logitech cordless. there is an indication light on the top, but it didn't draw nearly as much attention to itself until I couldn't move....
