Problem with Doom/Palette Games I'll get straight to the point. When I try to run Doom or any game using a palette, I get things similar to this:
Some times forcing the games to run in 640x480 solved the problem, but it didn't for most. I recently discovered that it might be explorer causing the problem, and it was. Closing explorer.exe allowed the game to run perfectly fine. Is there any way to fix this? I'd rather not have to close explorer every time I want to run games using a palette. | My System Specs |

Hi Whoo,
Here's a thread about the same issue but in C&C Red Alert: Red Alert 1 Scrambled colours Windows 7
One user created a batch file that automatically kills explorer.exe when opening the game, and restarts explorer.exe when closing the game. A workaround to be sure, but better than nothing!
Cheers,
Walker

Funny this is about Doom, I fired up Doom III and get decent graphics, but most glassy surfaces reflect the opposite & upsidedown. And the little 1/2 dome things on the ground and the round / disk things that are thrown at you, are semi-transparent. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Self - Build | Asus K53e Laptop OS 7 x64 | 7 x64 CPU AMD 64x2 5400 2.8 | i5 Sandy Bridge Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H 3.3 | K53e Memory 4 gigs GSkill ddr2 800 | 8 gigs Adata ddr3 1600 Graphics Card xFx HD5670 1 gig ddr5 | Intel HD 3000 Sound Card Realtek HD OnBoard Audio Monitor(s) Displays 19" Samsung 18" NEC & 37" Toshiba | 15.6 Keyboard Rosewill RK-800G PS/2 Gaming Keyboard | Asus Chiclet Mouse Logitec MX518 | MS w/side buttons PSU hec 485w dual rail | 65w Case CoolMaster Centurion 534+ Cooling Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120mm Core Contact Freezer Hard Drives 120 OCZ Vertex II ssd | 750 Caviar Black 7200 sata | 500 spinpoint Internet Speed RoadRunner Other Info Logitec x540 5.1 audio
