Fear and Fear extraction point updates

Ok I recently built a brand new computer with windows 7. My question is i have the old cds from way back when of Fear. I downloaded the patch for 1.07 to 1.08 from fileshack or whatever. How do i install it. When i click on it it asks me what program i want to use to open it. Completely confused on windows 7 (never used vista either)... Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Excellent system! The patch should be automated. Is it asking for a path to the Fear installed directory?

The .exe should be automated. Re-download the right patch.

You didn't mention Steam. Update the game via Steam - other updates will not work.

Delete the shortcut and try a different patch - you might need the full patch instead of the incremental one.
