What do you guys think about UBI's DRM...

I don't know if this has been posted before but I am curious what you guys think. I am totally outraged but can't complain much since I stopped buying games from UBI all together since they botched GR & R6... and don't get me started with that joke they call Far Cry 2

But I digress... my logic behind this whole "We're doing it to deter or prevent piracy" is a bogus argument.

1.- We already say that the game AC2 was hacked so... there goes that theory

2.- I do believe that the whole reason behind such draconian DRM was/is to prevent the sale or rent of pre-own games as this hurts UBI's bottom line.

3.- UBi's history with "Down Servers" is well known throughout the gaming community, so how can they pretend to maintain their servers up 24/7 - 365 to enforce the constant internet connection to play any of their games now that they have introduced this new fiasco of a DRM?

I heard the servers went down for more than 10 hrs inmediately after the AC2 game had been sold... DENIED + FAIL = UBIsoft

Hold on - constant internet connection? I thought you install the game, validate it, get offline, then maybe validate it in 2 weeks? Apart from that, I don't care. As long as the game works, and doesn't conflict with other installed apps, its fine.

nope, if your connection goes down then you cant play, if their auth server goes down you cant play. but then again i dont care as much, so long as i can play it, but i would rather it not do that, may annoy me a bit.

Can't say I've heard anything about this particular DRM, but I can say that, imho, for the most part, DRM only interferes with honest users. Guys who could care less... could care less; thus, remain unaffected.

Piracy is a fact of life (since long before the digital age), and to date, I'm aware of no DRM scheme that hasn't been circumvented... so I have to ask, "what's really the point of expending time and energy in creating something that will not do what you're designing it to do?"

I understand why developers are forever searching for ways to lock down their products... but... ya know... thinking you're finally going to stop piracy is as unrealistic as asking boys not to ogle pretty girls... never gonna happen.

Nope, Ubisoft just lost a customer for this game - constant internet connection? That is just stupid.
