    Hello

I'm not entirely sure that this is the correct forum subsection to post this under, but its relevant to gaming.

Please correct me if i'm wrong but i cannot seem to find anyother people on the internet with my specific problem, unless of course i haven't looked deep enough into it, anyway..

I have created a .DMP file for the GameOverlayUI.exe process which is registering in the list of currently running processes whilst playing any steam, games library activated games, but it is not loading into the game, im pretty sure this is something to do with the firewall or incompatibility, but my friend has an identical setup to mine and still my Overlay does not work.

I am also having a massive issue with freezing within windows 7, your site probably covers this somewhere but why not try to hit two birds with one stone?

Basically when i try to disable windows firewall, the window freezes, when i try to set screensaver settings i cannot because the window freezes, i wait patiently and still when it comes back around it stays on the previous page.

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit and the .DMP is here:
    GameOverlayUI DMP.rar
    , i appreciate any help. :)

    Thanks again,
    Soulhammer.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast, although I have reinstalled steam several times and with no prevail, I'm not sure what's happening to be honest, it's gotta be something to do with windows 7, I'm just not sure what yet.

    Thanks again,
    Soulhammer.

    Hey again,
Yep i've tried all of that and nothing works, you know in modern warfare 2 when you first open the game, it says in a window that press <key combination> to activate the in-game ui? Well it doesn't work :P

i've also tried reinstalling windows 7, no luck, reinstalling everything entirely and simply nothing works..
I don't know what to do because when i open up my Task Manager, it clearly says that the GameOverlayUI.exe is running in the background but isn't working in correspondance with modern warfare, or in fact any games. it also uses up a fraction of my cpu, so there has to be something there..

    Thanks,
    Soulhammer.

I remember issues with some anti-viruses such as Kapersky blocking the in-game overlay, but not 100% sure if that's still an issue nowadays.

Okay, well @Mckillwashere, i have tried that already, on multiple keyboards, it's just that something is blocking the program from even starting, i can see it in the process list, and @Everlong18 I'm using AVG, i've tried uninstalling, to no avail. i think it's something to do with Windows firewall blocking the Ingame ui, but i cannot get into windows firewall because the window containing windows firewall freezes when i try to disable the firewall itself..

    What a predicament :P

    Thanks,
    Soulhammer.

Have you tried the new gui for steam though its quite nice.... And also may fix your issue.

I'm using MSE and Win-Firewall I am not having any issues what so ever. I will see if windows firewall is configurable from command line.

    Found

netsh firewall set allowedprogram program=FullPathToExecutable name=AnyNameHere
