Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Crashes on Startup

Hello, I am new to the forums and thought I'd ask since I need a little help.
I have been trying to do some research to solve this problem, but over the past couple of days have not been able to find anything to actually solve my issue.

I am trying to run "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" on my current system, but it crashes on the initial load.
It installed perfectly fine, but on the first launch it failed to detect my video card.

I tried running compatibility modes, but it doesn't help at all.
I am not able to changed the affinity of the processors to just 1 CPU, but am unable to because it crashes before I can get that far.

I also am running Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 but have tried running with it disabled, to ensure that that is not the problem.

The error I receive is "Oblivion has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

    I have Windows 7 x64
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
    4gb RAM
    Dual Monitors
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (@ 2.4GHz)

Has anyone found a solution to this problem or have any suggestions on how to get it work.
I have seen that people get it to work in Windows 7 x64, so I am pretty sure that isn't the (only?) issue.

    Thanks so much
    -Matt

    FOUND FIX

Oblivion does not like two displays when it auto-detects and configures video settings on the initial game run.

Go to My Documents - My Games - Oblivion and delete the file named Oblivion

Turn off the display that the game is not running off (In windows, not the monitors power button)

Run Oblivion for the first time, and it shouldn't crash (for the specific problem)

Feel free to exit Oblivion and turn on the second display. When you load Oblivion again, it should start fine whether you have 1 or multiple displays active.

(Sorry I posted this and found a solution 10 minutes later!)

    Little Help

"Turn off the display that the game is not running off (In windows, not the monitors power button)"

I don't understand what you mean.
    I am running win7 ulta 32 and connected to a tv/monitor.
What do you mean multiple displays?
    Multiple monitors or what?

Same problem but the problem went away when i ran the game in windowed mode this just seems to be problematic when going full screen so i don`t have a solution for full screen but the game should run fine windowed also try different driver i have the newest drivers installed and don`t remember this problem before that i have a q6600 and a 280 gtx running this game so our setups are very similar
