Well let me be the first to say 'you have just made the greatest step in your life'.

There are lots of great games, i especially love the GTA series, Grid: Race Driver.

There are quite a lot of exclusives, Half-Life 1 + 2 and the extensions, Team Fortress, Just Cause 1 + 2.

A couple of places to start would be WikiPedia and steam

Wiki will list pretty much all games for windows and tells you who made the game.

Steam is a download client which you can buy your games through, back them up or download them as much as you want and they automatically update patches for you

    Happy gaming

Just started getting back into the games I haven't played in a while. Wanting to see how the games look and feel with ATI's Eyefinity.

    -Burnout Paradise
    -Half Life
    -Half Life 2
    -H.A.W.X.

99% of my games are through Steam. I have absolutely no problems with Steam or the games themselves.

Depends on what genre you like. I personally enjoy real time strategy the best, followed by MMORPG/RPG. I'm mainly playing Starcraft 2 beta right now. Real time strat games IMHO are where PC really outshines console games. I never cared for FPS. I would get the Star Trek Online except I got burned out on subscription fees playing WoW for so long. IF you like strategy games I would recommend Dragon Age origins, I also like the Total War games like Napoleon: Total War, Command and Conquer 4, I would highly recommend King's Bounty:Armored Princess.

WoW and Lotro keeps me plenty busy, plan on getting C&C4 though because like Desslok said, RTS games rock on PC's.

    Also.. Did someone say FFIV!

I will strongly advise you to get GTA IV. Great game, great storyline, excellent graphics, and a open-world game where you can do whatever you like. I've written a bit about it below
Also, two DLC will be available soon (if not already) i wrote a bit on them as well

    GTA IV Main Story:
The main story happens in a city called Liberty City (inspired by New York, looks a lot like it as well) where you play as Niko Bellic, a man from Eastern Europe who comes in on a ship to see his so called "Wealthy" cousin Roman. But, he finds out what Roman has written him in letters an emails, is a lie. Roman has his own Cab Depot where he works and a apartment in a bad condition. As you get more into the game, darker sites will show, and both Niko and Roman gets in trouble with Russian Gangsters, and the mob...

DLC 1: The Lost and Damned
The Lost and Damned also takes place in Liberty City, where you play as Johnny Klebitz, a biker who is the vice president of The Lost, which are one of the two bike gangs in the city. As you go through the story you get in heavy shootouts, motorcycle racing, and even bombing things...

DLC 2: The Balled Of Gay Tony
The Ballad of Gay Tony also takes place in Liberty City, where you play as Luiz Lopez, a club manager (co-owner as well i believe)
He works at one of the most exclusive clubs in Liberty city, which means a lot of dancing, and club music is included in the game.
His boss, Gay Tony, gets into trouble and Luiz has to help him out of it. As you play the story you get into dancing with women, heavy shootouts, helicopter flying, and lots more!

The GTA 4 DLC is available in US for PC. Will be available Friday in UK I think, and both add-on comes as Episodes from Liberty City, so don't need to buy seperatley

I'm currently play Bad Company 2 and Assassins Creed 2 on PC, but as you can get them on console, they're not really that great to recommend, but I'll say get the Half Life series, as they're definitley games not to miss if you're gaming on PC.
