Games will only run in windowed mode????

Hi Guys, i have a big problem after buying new pc.
meny of my games will only run in windowed mode,
(Stalker COP, Assains creed, Metro 2033- and MW2 wont start at all??)
either a 640x480 box in the middle of the screen, or the window fills the screen. but wont go to fullscreen mode, no matter what i do? ctrl+alt+enter dosent work,.. alt+enter dosent work,..alt+F11 dosent work,.. ive never encountered any problem like this ever b4? all games worked fine on my old pc, whit Win XP,. so it must be Win 7?,...

-Dosent help at all to change rez,,...
- gone to properties, and changed the Run "mode" to Maximum from the shortcut icon, on my desktop,..(tried all 3 options, but still the same)
-And i have all latest drivers and patches,..

Any help would be greatly appericiated, coz im gettin desperat,.. :P

Regards
Dennis

Have you tried compatibility mode?

Right Click the game- select 'properties'- go to 'compatibility' tab- select 'windows xp'

Sounds like a software error, works fine for me.

Any other full screen problems? Like Windows Media player in full screen?

MistaJay, - no,its only some games so far im having trouble with,
Vlc and WinMedia player, works fine,
as do l4d1 and 2, just cause 2, Bad compagny 2,
so it not all my games, only some?
but ive seen a couple of posts in here whit roughly the same problems,
and there dosent seem any solutions yet,..

Sygnus21 - Yes im famillier with the concept of direct X :P
thats not the problem, as games will run, but only in windowed mode,
and both DX9 and DX11 games,..
although DX 11 games seems to run bettere/easier than DX 9 on my new sys?
however when i try to launch MW2 i get an " Directx has encountered an unrecoverable error" so i believe its a conflict between directX 11 and Win 7,

but thx for your time guys

Directx11 is native to Windows 7, thus there is no conflict between the two. The "conflict" is between "MW2" and Windows. (maybe).
