Black screen when I try to play Return to Castle Wolfen

I know I know, its an old ass game, in fact, its the first ever first person shooter.

I found my old Return to castle Wolfenstein cd and installed it with no problem. However when I try to launch either the single player or multilayer version it loads then the screen goes black and I cant do anything at all after that point. I cant do "ctrl alt delete" or use the windows button or anything. The computer is still on and I can do things like lower the screen brightness with the function key and F4 and F5 but that's pretty much it. I end up just having to hold the power button down till the system shuts off and then i reboot again.

Any idea what I can do to play the game?

my system is Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 4gigs ram. I have the Nvidia Gefore 9600M GT.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

it turns out that Comodo Defense+ was the issue. I just needed to make the game a trusted application. Everything is ok now.

According to Windows 7 Compatibility for Return to castle Wolfenstein: Drivers, Updates, Downloads it is not compatible with x32 or x64, you can try this [SOLVED] Blank Screen with Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Ubuntu Forums also the last update 1.41b was in 2006 so I think its no go unless you try running it in compatibility mode.

works fine as is without running in compatibility mode. It was just being blocked my Comodo Defense+. Now that i unblocked it, it runs perfectly fine.
