    Condition Zero + Windows 7

Hi all! Been following this forum for awhile so i decided to register to get help on a problem im having.

I love Windows 7, i dont really do much gaming as my computer isnt that great.

    Spec's :-

    Intel Pentuim 4 3.02Ghz
    2GB DDR2 5300Mhz Memory
    Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 256Mb PCI-E
    Creative Sounblaster Audigy2zs
    SATA2 160Gb Hard Drive

Anyway, the problem im having is i can play Condition Zero on single player (It runs smooth as butter, i get constent 100fps) but everytime i join multiplayer it is terrible. I get a ping of 90 - 150, my fps jumps all over the place but rarley goes above 50fps.

Im asuming this is a Windows 7 issues as when im using XP i get a ping of around 25 and constent 100fps.

    Things ive tried :-

    Runing in Window Mode
Using diffrent sets of graphics drivers
    Not running without sound
    Installed DirectX 9.0c Redist

Ive tried pretty much everything, Surely my computer can run Condition Zero on Windows 7 with my specs?
Im thinking it could be a Opengl related problem or firewall within Windows 7 but im at a loss so any help would be appriciated!

    Thanks again!

From what you said so far, it sounds like an issue with your network card driver in Windows 7. Check for better drivers from the OEM you purchased from or the web site of the card manufacturer.

Tried Vista drivers for my Intel LAN pro VE and still have the same issue.

I just think Windows 7 doesnt like Condition Zero. It also happens in Counter Strike.

Could i install VMWare and install XP on it and run Counter strike within there on windows 7?

I know this is probably the first place you checked , but I take it you have checked your...
    firewall access for the game
All online applications are off , i.e mail, messenger
Services which may be doing updates i.e media player
in game connection set up (i.e lan, T1 , 2Mb etc)
in game rate, cl_updaterate, cl_cmdrate in console
also if you have a nforce chipped board , check that you dont have Nvidia Network Manager operating( it acts sort of like a firewall manager too, and caused me major probs once with hl2)
    other than that
Not sure if this will help with online, but maybe launch properties , -high ,
-heapsize xxxxmb, -nojoy ... cant remember the rest of them but there is a post here on them

    Thanks for the replys guys.

I installed Vista SP2 yesterday to see if it works on there, and it works flawless. I think it is a firewall issue on Windows 7, i had a look and it is totally diffrent to vista's!

In Windows 7 i ran the game (Condition Zero) and the dialog box popped up and i ticked the box to allow, still same problem.

As Windows 7 Firewall is diffrent, is there any specific settings that i need to enable or disable to allow Condition Zero to run?

    Update :

Ok, after trying for days i found the problem.

Its my sound card drivers. If i uninstall them the game runs fine, constant 20fps with no sound, but if i install sound drivers it lags again.

My Card is aCreative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2zs. I tried the latest drivers, modded drivers to no avail. I have a realtek onboard sound card so i tried that to see if it was my audigy. Guess what same problem. No drivers runs fine, with drivers runs terrible.

    What can be causing this?

was that the windows 7 drivers from creative? The latest ones are just "around" a month old I think?
And I take it onboard sound is turned off in the bios?
Excuse me if I ask basic questions , I dont mean to sound condenscending, Im just trying to think where I would start from ..

On Board was Disabled when i installed the Audigy2zs. Drivers are fro creative's website.

I then tried removing my Audigy2zs and try onboard. It happens with onboard sound too.

With Sound Card Drivers, Condition Zero Lags, without out sound drivers it works flawless.

Im thinking its a DX Problem, or perhaps WDDM 1.1 Problem perhaps?

I have the cause, it's the framerate. Try typing fps_max 30 in console and see if it still does it. To me it stoped right as I hit enter. I think it has something to do with the new WARP system having the CPU doing display code and helping out with the GPU, Because if you notice how your CPU is maxed out and after the command its ~60% utilization.
