    Gaming Crashes

I am having problems with at least 2 games right now. Mechwarrior 3, and Nascar 2003.

The problem with MW3 is that the game will run. I have compatibility mode set to Windows 98. Whenever I try to play either the campaign, or instant action, the game will show me the menus just fine (except that the mech isn't visible in the area it's supposed to be), but whenever I try and hit "launch", the game's environment will play as normal, except I cannot see the world around the Mech. I just see the color of the last screen that was showing. I have tried almost all of the Comp mode OS's for it, and none of them have worked. I even tried using just 256 colors, disabling the visual themes, and it still won't work. The game also goes through its regular videos just fine. I have posted this on another website, but they've been unable to help so far. I have also tried to change the screen resolution, as well as the screen's refresh rate.

Now, onto Nascar 2003. The game will load up like normal, go through all of the menu's just fine. All I have done is put it on Window's XP compatibility mode. Whenever I finally press the green lettered word "Drive" in the game, it'll crash me to the desktop. I'm wanting to play both games, and I have not come to a way to make them work yet. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If they are old enough to need win 98 compatibility mode, or xp mode, it is going to be difficult.

If the games need Windows 98 compatibility, then reinstall them and ***DON'T USE PROGRAM FILES*** as your installation path. If you cannot change hte installation path, you may be hosed, but if you can, change it to something like C:\MyGames\{gamename}.

The restrictions placed on Program Files / Program Files (x86) will kill a lot of older apps that can actually run perfectly fine under Windows 7. I have a second Hard Drive, and all my games get installed to D:\Program Files or D:\Program Files (x86).

I actually install all of my games into the D:\Games\Name of Game directory. I don't like installing games into the Program Files directory.

I actually managed to fix the Nascar 2003 issue, but not the Mechwarrior 3 one yet.

hmmm. Then I am not sure what else it could be, really. Have you tried reinstalling the game?

I know. I've already fixed the Nascar issue weeks ago, as I've already said that.

I am also having the problem where NR 2003 works all the way until I hit the green DRIVE button. How did you fix it?
