Oki, the Sims 2 lets me make houses but it doesn't let me play families. The screen goes black and Windows says something like:

    Error: Application will not terminate.

Any reasons why? I installed in order :s and my graphics card is 100% updated, I even restarted the computer before playing xD

    Thanks ): /at-a-loss

I'm so glad, that i didn't buy any E.P.'s for TS3. When I read your comment about WA, I'm glad even more. Because my decision was the right one. All this about TS3 E.P.'s troubles is awfull! Soory-this is not the subject here, but I couldn't help myself to comment.

But it's odd. My graphics card is kinda old - not really, really old, but around two years (around the time the last Sims 2 expansion came out.)

It worked great on a desktop I used to have with a graphics card around the same age (but Nvidia).

I'm'a try to see if it works when I install XP 64-bit on another partition. I don't have a desktop anymore, and Sims 2 > Sims 3 because of the expansions. Sims 3 has a lot of awesome features just in the base game, but I'm having issues with the download content (WA erased my ability to use custom content, including Riverview. No idea how to fix.)

I might reconsider Sims 3 if I can somehow fix that issue :| but since I can't, I'm going to try and play Sims 2 on XP.

If you have any other suggestions, I'd love to hear'em.

Maybe is graphic card - is it integrated? Or - if you recently downloaded custom content, that you didn't have on previous computer?. But I think it's not CC - Sims2 has not so many problems with CC as Sims 3. Once I have similar problem with Sims 3 when I downloaded custom hair and from the neighboorhood look there was one giant hair all over this house where the sim with this hair was, but this was Sims 3 ... To solve this, remove Download folder to other place and run the game completely without it and you,ll see if CC is the problem. Maybe it's something on the hardwear. My Sims 2 run PERFECTLY on Win 7 64 bit, without any problems at all.

I've played The Sims 2 Double Deluxe on my laptop with Intel graphics. The last time I installed it I has some weird issues with it. I can't remember exactly what I did to fix it. I either did some kind of repair install or reinstalled it completely. I would try installing just Sims 2 and see if it works. For me Double Deluxe can lag, especially when adding entire walls, or wallpapering entire rooms. If it works alright, install one expansion pack at a time. Their maybe one that causes problems, or having multiple ones installed might cause some weird problem.

Sims 2 expansion not working, but base game works.

Hi, I too am having troubles getting the sims 2 to work on my desktop pc. I have had no issues installing the base game or any of the expansion packs. The basic game works just fine, however after I have installed the expansion packs the game get to the load screen and crashes immediately, giving me a blank error (red circle, with a x in it). I am using the 4 disc holiday deluxe game as the base. I am not getting the compatibility error that several people have been getting, but the base game works. I have installed all ep in order. My graphics drivers & direct x are all up to date. I can't seems to find any solution. My problem seems similar to the guy who strted this post, but he never explains how he got the game to work. I know it's been so ,onf since anyone has looked at this thread, but I thought I would give it a chance.

Hope someone can help me. Thanks!

Edit: I have no cc or mods right now & I have uninstalled & reinstalled several times.
