here is what i did to make it work!!!

I read and read for about 2 hours tips and ideas on forums! And belive me nothing worked! Im not so skilled with windows like some of u guys in modyfing registry blablabla.....but here is what i did and worked for me!
I have installed Cod4 without PB then the 2 patches 1.6 and 1.7
After that downloaded the latest PB from evenbalance and installed it and even after that wasnt been able to locate the 2 files PnkBstrA.exe
and the PnkBstrB.exe.Coz u need the 2 files allowed in windows firewall!
The only thing u need to do is browse on the COD 4 dvd and search for the file named pbsvc and run the PB test! That will do the rest of the job for u!
Hope that will help u! And if it does have fun and dont bother to thank me!

I have tried everything. an uninstall of cod4 cleaned out the regestry and removed anything with cod4. I re-installed cod4 again and it had the direc x error so I updated my motherboard bios, all motherboard drivers EXCEPT Realtech because I heard there were issues with the driver. After the game installed I installed all patches, then drivers for my 4870 x2 asus ati HD graphics card. updated monitor drivers even. and i was able to connect to 3-4 games then I would get server disconected error or the executable for mp would stop working. I switched over the compatability mode to vista w/sp2 and admin rights and did the same with pb. now it is back to server disconnects and mp errors. I have the MSDN copy of windows 7 ultimate x 64 with xp vm. I thought of trying to install the game on the vm but it is set to low standards mostly for apps anyway. At this point I am almost ready to go back to xp because I want my games to work but other than cod4 everything works except the nextflix plug in but that will come in time. my cod5 works fine it is just cod4. any advice will be greatly appriciated.

Okay i have found a fix that works perfectly for a 64bit RTM, sorry if already been posted

    * Enable Vista compabitility for PnkBstrA/B.exe in c:\windows\syswow64 and c:\users\your_username\appdata\local\punkbuster.
    * Running above files with administrator rights.
    * Enable Vista compabitility for C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 – Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe
    * Run iw3mp.exe (cod4 mp) without administrator rights

I noticed last night after i upgraded my machine to 7 RTM, that punkbuster have a download on there website so you can put the services into services. Once they are in check that they have been started if not start them, and it works!

all you have to do is plug in a microphone given you have an onboard soundcard if not enable your sound card and make sure all your sound software and chipset data is up to date and also update java it may help you if you are using 64 bit (i reccomend you use 32, uses less RAM than 64 bit)

cod4 works fine in win7 till pb update

while i was playing cod4 on win xp I constantly had 80fps.after that I played on win7 and it was around 60-70fps's,but now the fps's are falling down in intervals and I don't know what's happening to it.I think it all started from the last pb update. Is there anyone with some good-looking suggestion? thx

Can somebody post simple instructions please?

    Hello.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (7600 build) and I can't acess Call of Duty 4. Does anyone have simple instructions on how to (there are so many posts it's a bit confusing)?

Also do I have to re-install Windows 7? Is there any other way of not having to do a complete re-install?

    Thank You
