    Warcraft 3 - Black screen

I am having difficulty trying to run Warcraft 3 : Frozen Throne. When I run FrozenThrone.exe the splash screen shows up and then my resolution switches to 800x600 and then the screen turns black with the windows taskbar. I have downloaded the patch (1.23 full) from blizzard and I have tried the following with no sucess:
    • running in compatibility mode (xp and vista)
    • Disable desktop composition
    • Run as admin
    Has anyone encountered this?

    I am running Build 7100.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

That's strange, I'm on older build 7077 x64 and older patch for War3 (1.22a?) and I can run it without having to enable/disable anything.

I'm going to install 7100 soon.

    Frozen Throne Screen Problem

i have a similar problem with you but not as bad as your problem hehe....
i am able to play dota on windows7 but the game screen doesn't seems to stretch to fill my laptop widescreen display. Note that i set all settings to high as possible and i'm running the game on a highest resolution possible. I am using the HP CQ40 126 AX. Is there any way to fix this? I tried playing PES2008 and it fits well.

I had that problem trying to run Americas Army.
    I have a nvidia geforce 8600gt.
MS update installed drivers for it. They would always give me a black screen after the splash screen, so I went to nividia website downloaded the drivers for win7. Installed, rebooted and it worked great.

Hope its that easy for you.

It's normal for Warcraft 3 because the game doesn't have native resolution support for widescreen. But are you using NVIDIA GPU? If you're, then there's a possible solution for it.

Choose Use NVIDIA scaling, It will try to stretch the screen to fill your display.
