The first thing I would try is right click the game's icon and hit run as administrator. This might not solve your problem, but it's a start until the masters find this thread.

FOR ALL OF YOU FRUSTRATED PEOPLE OUT THERE I FOUND THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM you have to delete the settings files because oblivion apperently doesent like having dual-monitors and i had connected mine to one to test it out. and since i know that there are alot of you that cant figure it out here is the ULTIMATE SOLUTION

to delete settings go to :
My Documents > My Games > Oblivion

and now delete the 3 .ini (all of them) and your done NOW YOU CAN PLAYY
NOTE: you will have to reset all your settings again

DON'T DELETE YOUR SAVED GAMES JUST THE SETTINGS !

for more info to solve your problem check out this thread (Source of solution) : Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Crashes on Startup

I was talking to steam a while ago about this and they said if you had an older copy installed onto your pc or not go into C:\Users\(Name)\Documents\My Games and rename Oblivion to " Oblivion_old " this worked for me

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Crashing at startup
So I got my new PC all built up and set today, and start running some games on it, to find that Oblivion was crashing immediately after the intro sequence (right before the main screen that allows you to select new game, load, etc.). Oblivion crash at startup
Well that's pretty much it. I've tried everything, patching, compatibility modes, reinstalling, installing the expansion, whatsoever. It just won't work. And well, right before you say it, my PC CAN run Oblivion smoothly, as I've done that before on Vista and XP. Can anyone come up with...

Oblivion crashes upon startup - please help?
So, I've played The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for years on end ever since release, and it's still my favorite game. Too bad I can't play it anymore. For some reason, it crashes somewhere between the Bethesda logo sequence and the main menu. I never get to the main menu (problem there maybe? idk)....

Hey, guys! I'm having a few problems with my Asus U30Jc-A1 laptop I just bought. This model has hybrid graphics (nVidia Optimus), that means there are both integrated and dedicated graphics processors inside. The Intel graphics driver sometimes crashes, and it only happens during or after the...
