@squall, thats not true I played these games all the time on older pc's never needing internet.
@rst, Tried reinstalling eu2 did not work, havent tried with anything else but prob will have same effect
@fumz, I know that but these games all come with directx that was modern at the time so I know thats not it unless windows 7 simply doesnt support them
Honestly, how difficult would it be to at least try the suggestions offered to you? If your game machine is disconnected from the internet, connect it. Download and install the latest DX files; which is always a good idea. You've already tried the reinstall; now try the easy steps...

@squall, Is this net thing a new deal with vista/7? Played these games for YEARS on xp with several computers that didnt ever get on the net. And played for a while on this rig without net too. How could it be that when it was working before on more than one pc without net access and now it doesnt.

Well that did the trick, it still seems bizarre to me that a game with no internet play option would require access to the internet in order to work... But the boys in redmond never have been the brightest bulbs....
    Thanks squall, you totally rock

Yeah, it doesn't seem really smart at all for the games init to be dependant on whether gameux can pull updated info from the internet.
