Fallout: New Vegas will use Steam for DRM

A few weeks back Bethesda and Obsidian started taking questions for the next Fallout title. A staff member on Bethesda's forum posted answers to a dozen of those questions yesterday, revealing that Fallout: New Vegas will rely on Steam for DRM. After looking at other options, the developers decided that Steam is the "best, least intrusive experience for PC gamers." The use of Valve's platform is great news, considering the recent string of less-than-cherished always-connected mechanisms from folks like Ubisoft.

New Vegas is the next game in the series of Fallout. Separate game unto itself. :)

I'll be getting it too - not too happy about steam though.

As a Steam 'noob' (only used it properly for the first time the other day to to re-deem free game) - can't say I'm an immediate fan

Well I've had STEAM since they introduced it with Half-Life's Orange Box. Though I have it I much prefer to have the physical media.

The one thing that I like about STEAM is the fact that your games are centralized in one place and ready for redownload once you reinstall the STEAM app. You can also just install the STEAM app and not have the games redownload, provided you didn't wipe the main STEAM directory. Makes thing nice and easy without having to reinstall all the games.

BTW didn't know this was a STEAM product???

Like sygnus21 I've been using Steam since they introduced the Orange Box and I think it is a really good service. I really like the fact that it patches your games for you etc so you won't have to bother downloading them yourself.
As a fallout 3 fan I will be definitely getting this

Is there a way to take their survey without installing STEAM?

I don't mind at all using Steam. It's pre-orderable now on Steam for £24.99, and Fallout 3 has been half price this weekend as well with all DLC for £15, which is a good deal :)
