The problem with most of the original X-box's was that the original cheap TIM "thermal interface material" would dry up and then it would overheat. In most cases this is the only problem. My son has fixed quite a few of them by simply replacing the TIM with something better like artic cooling MX-3. There are online tutorials on how to open the box and how to work on them. It's fairly simple to fix the problem.

Is the face plate still changeable?

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it is, but that the faceplates that have been released so far won't work with it.

You could always pull it apart, paint it up the way you want it, put it back together.

The negitives i feel like its gonna suck:
-1 year warrenty only and excluding the 3 year rrod.
-250gb hdd....how the hell ima fill that bad boy up? lol jk
-it looks fatly wide on the side

Now im wondering if this console will easily be modded?
