Solitaire: Windows does not recognize that the game is over!

In Windows 7 home premium 64 bit, when you reach what you KNOW is the end of the game, the game does not recognize that there are no more plays left! And when you click on "hint", it will highlight the deck, even though there are definitely no more plays available! It sucks because it never recognizes that the game is over! If I need to, I can take screen shots of what I mean, but I don't think you can post them here in the forum. But I will be glad to send them to someone. Has anyone else had this problem?

Never heard of that happening. Perhaps you can turn it off then on again from "Turn Windows Features On or Off".

Na, it doesn't matter what you do, it won't fix itself. I think its a flaw in the program. But thanks for the reply!

Usually when this happens you'll find that more moves are in fact available by pulling cards back down from the 4 finished piles onto your working stack which may enable you to get one or more cards from top left out. But I agree sometimes I can't even manage to do that.

Never heard of this problem before... have you tried using the file's bracket (at the top) and clicked on new game at the end? if not, you might need to contact Windows and tell them about the problem.

I too have had this problem. And I agree completely with Frightwriter. In addition, I have been keeping track of the dealt hands and Windows 7 issues the same hands over and over again. Most of the repeaters are losing hands. Think about it. If the computer can instantly issue a winning hand if you ask it too then it can also conjure up a losing hand just as easily. Anytime I get close to going to 54% I start getting a lot of losing hands and they are always the same ones I have lost several times before.

It is a confirmed bug, at least by me. I play Solitaire all the time and I just hate it when there are no more plays left, but tapping the hint key keeps sending you through the deck with no playable cards at all. Yep, Windows 7 64 bit. We cannot call Microsoft about this, for one thing they don't care. Solitaire is a very old game that has come with Windows for ages. I doubt if the original programmer is still around and they sure will not pay any developer to "fix it" when they are now pushing Windows 10, for "free", and have already eliminated Solitaire from Windows along with any kind of DVD player. Sad, the end of a somewhat generous Windows manufacturer. Now it is all about turning PCs into cellphones where Microsoft is the OS owner and handler, not the owner anymore. And yeah, you will have to pay for it too.

I don't play games, but in my testing of what you described...
...I requested a hint and the deck is highlighted
...I clicked on the on the deck

This was repeated until I finally got:

It is not every game where you see the hint bug,. You play until you win or see the "No More Moves" window, then end game, play again, or play new game. Mine looks a little different than yours, but it looks like you are not using Aero desktop. Every 1 out of 5 or 10 games I will get the endless hint. Like this:

You play Solitaire and find that you have gone through the deck twice and nothing has changed, there are no cards to play. Just to be sure I didn't miss anything (I might be watching TV at the same time.), I will tap the H button. The deck glows to tap or enter. Next card comes up, no moves to play. Tap H again, deck glows, no moves. Rinse and repeat, several times, give up and close game.

Sometimes I will miss a move, but when it becomes apparent, anything, even moving a card up to the stack deck top right, I would have to run all the way through the play deck again before hints should show me there are no more moves. And it does not happen. It is ridiculous and funny, you tap h, deck glows, advance card, tap h, deck glows, until you reach the end, then the empty deck glows, reset the deck, tap h, deck glows, next card, tap h, deck glows, until you reach the end of the deck again. After going through the deck twice, with no moves at all, the game should end and it does not. The hint button keeps you cycling through the play deck, forever.

Not every game. Out of 10 games for sure I will see this at least once, usually 2 or more times. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit.

This is a silly issue, not a serious one. But we come to expect perfection from our PCs and when it does not happen such as in this case, it is unsettling. And it is not like Microsoft would ever "fix it". They have already taken it out of Windows 8 and 10 and charge you for it, forever, if you wanted to play Windows Solitaire.

EDIT: If this is a real bug, I should be able to Google for it and am not having good luck, cannot find anything on Google about this. But I have been frustrated by it for months! Go figure.

EDIT 2: Tell you what, next time this happens, I will try to grab a FRAPS video of it and put it on youtube. Then you guys can see if there is a play on the board that I just do not see. I doubt it since the hint keeps cycling the play deck and nothing else.
