    Far Cry 1 issue

Hi, I'm having issues with running far cry 1 on my Toshiba satellite a505. I installed the game in compatibility mode and then patched it version 1.4 and as soon as I start the game I got a screen the said "program has stopped working" I've tried running as admin as well as running in compatibility mode to no avail. I know that hardware isn't the issue as this game came out well over 7 years ago and I bought my computer last month. I'm not sure what to do anymore as the game just refuses to run on my computer. any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Howdy folks,
I rushed that thread Tuan linked, in a nutshell PUNKbuster could be the problem, I played FC stand alone, and I never installed punkbuster with anything, so I cant verify.

If that is the issue, I hope it's listed in uninstallable programs, or what I found quickly searching was to delete the folder pb (I'd just rename pxb for testing).

I very recently saw FC2 for $20 (maybe even $10 in a small jewel case) in a store locally, so that has come down finally, though I didn't buy, I haven't had a itch for an FPS in a while and I still have Painkiller standing by when I do and PK definitely runs great on pretty old systems if you need substitute. :)

Far Cry 1 WILL NOT run on Windows 7. I had a thread on this myself some time ago. Has to do with DX9 not running on Windows 7. I tried evrything under the sun... it won't work.

Don't even waste time trying to get this to run on Windows 7. Your only option is to install/dualboot XP. Do it now 'cos it's an awesome game.

I know this is a noob way to get it to run but I was able to by installing the game on an xp machine I have, copying the entire FC folder on an external and placing that folder on my W7 machine. Now every time I put the disc in it asks to install but that is the only nuisance. I just go to my games folder and click on the icon to start playing. I have 64 bit and couldn't even get it to install. Like I said I know this is very noobish but hey, it worked for me and I am almost finished with the game (great old game). I didn't patch the game as I only wanted to play the single player and didn't see the need to patch and it ran great.

I have it running on my win 7 64x

Ran into issue when first run. white graphics during gameplay. was fixed with patch.

This is for my current system specs for Asus G60.. so It might be due to certain new hardware or hardware drivers, my system isn't exactly old, but it isn't cutting edge either....
