    Civilization 4

This is a weird thing, and really effing annoying. Whenever I play the expansion "Beyond The Sword" (I don't play the original Civ4 anymore, just Beyond The Sword), the units won't show up on the damn screen! It's just plain retarded. Anyone know why it's doing this? I have the 3.19 patch installed, and the "Legends of Revolution" 0.9.8B mod installed for Beyond The Sword. It certainly as hell didn't do this on Windows XP. Anyone know how to fix this in-game? Or outside?

    Hi Richard,

When did you first notice this problem? If it was immediately after updating to BTS 3.19 or installing the mod, have you tried reverting back to a previous version?

    Cheers,

No, I haven't played this game prior to installing the mod. I installed Civ4, updated Civ 4 according to the Beyond The Sword add-on. Then I installed the 3.19 patch, then I installed the Legends of Revolution mod, THEN I tried playing it.

I would recommend reinstalling it piece by piece to figure out what element is causing the problem. Uninstall everything, install Civ4, test, install BTS, test, and so on...

Ugh...that's just annoying. But I'll test it before I'll reinstall the mod.

Okay, just reinstalled the game, and Beyond The Sword, and also patched to 3.17 instead of 3.19 this time. It seems that either the patch or the mod makes the units disappear. I'll just download an earlier version of the mod that's made for 3.17 instead of 3.19. That one worked fine for me on XP. Oh well, doesn't matter much. Thanks for the advice.

Sure thing, happy to help. Sorry for the annoyance but that seemed like the best way. Glad you found a solution for now, let me know if I can help more in the future.

Probably should start a new thread, but I just got Civ IV as a direct download from GameStop and I can not get the installer to finish. It hangs up and can only be killed through the task manager. I've also tried running the installer in compatibility with XP SP2, XP SP3, and Vista with the same results. Anyone else download a direct 2 drive version that has a fix?

    Thx

Did you try running the program with "admin" rights at the bottom of the box in properties? Sometimes this helps in Windows 7.

forgot to state that - yes - always tried with "run as administrator" and still hung up - I am running Civ II and III fine which leads me to believe the prob is with the installer - I've been back & forth with TryMedia (GameStop) with no help
