Does COD 4 work on win 7?

Does Call of Duty 4 - modern warfare work on Windows 7 - 64 bit Home Premium ?

I want to get it but after the failure of grid, i dont want to risk it at the moment !!

does anybody have it on this operating system and can confirm that it works?

Or any other games like racing games or first person shooters that definately work on the above version of windows

    THanks, CHris

    check out this list...

it hasn't been updated for some time, but there's a fair few games there.

by the way, i have grid (steam version) working fine without having to fiddle about at all.

dirt 2 is a very good racing game, made by the people who wrote grid, but is newer, better graphics and more off-roady, as the name suggests.

there are also loads of good shooters, such as cod modern warfare 2, battlefield bad company 2, bioshock2, borderlands, left4dead 1+2...

it's always a good idea to quickly check a game's website and/or forum before you buy to make sure of compatability, but these days it would be very odd indeed if a new game did not work with windows 7.

it's also a good idea to install games outside of the program files or program files (x86) folders, as UAC can sometimes cause problems.

    I have CoD4:MW working fine on W7 x64 pro

this is the process I used to install CoD4, I'll quote my answer from another thread to save having to type it again

Update your Direct X files - Contrary to popular belief, just because Windows 7 is DX11 capable doesn’t mean it has the latest DX9 files!!! Most game issues can be fixed by simply updating the DX files.

When I installed CoD4:MW from DVD-ROM on W7 x64 I didn't use any compatibilty mode or admin rights

I installed CoD4:MW skipping the step where Punkbuster was installed, updated to 1.7 with patches downloaded beforehand (patch order 1.6 then 1.6-1.7), updated DirectX 9.0c runtimes (link above), used PBsetup to setup PB and the game has run with no problems at all

Hey guys, sorry for the late reply !

well i installed Grid and it runs through the first two intro videos but then the screen goes black, no menus come up but the music still plays and i can still pres buttons as if i was playing it !

Still trying to work out whats wrong, the general feeling im getting is that my laptop hasnt got a good enough video card... i originally thought it was a problem due to compatability but im just not sure anymore !
