Trouble with Shockwave games
HI,
I subscribe to shockwave unlimited games and ever since I got this new computer with Windows 7 I've been having issues.
Every time I download a game, after it installs I get this message, "The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem".
The games do work after that..sort of. Some of them work okay, but most have some kind of issue after installing. They won't load or they won't let me click on anything with my mouse..One was just so big only a section of it showed up on my screen.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games but that doesn't work. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling my shockwave, that doesn't help. I've updated shockwave player, doesn't help.
I"ve read through forums looking for help and some people say to update the drivers. I tried to do that with the disc and then my computer crashed. I had to get back in and do a system restore to fix that. BUt I stil have the issue with the games.
Someone in one forum said to reinstall the missing dll. file and gave and address to a copy of the dll. file.
Some people said that worked for them, but I didn't want to download it cause I didn't trust it ..plus I have the Windows 7 CD so I could install it from that, but I don't' know how.
I don't' want to mess up any programs or files already installed on my computer.
When I pop in the Windows 7 disk in, the only option I get is to install Windows 7. I don't see any option for anything else. So how can I copy the MSVCR71.dll file from my disc to , well where ever it needs to be... As you might be able to tell I've a novice at this so please feel free to talk to me like a 4 year old when explaining things.
I'm sending a copy of my Dxdiag. I'm not sure what needs to be included so I just copied the first section and the display section. If you need more let me know.
please help..I want to play my games.
thanks
Sue
