Question about Aero and Gaming Hello everyone I wanted to ask if there are programs that disable aero when I start the game until the time I close it down completly.
Right now even if the game is running and I minimize the game the aero turns back and it makes my laptop very slow.
Hope to see some answers | My System Specs |

A lot of fullscreen games require a massive amount of memory and resources to run (both GFX & phisical RAM). The disabling of Aero is to make sure that all available resources are utilized in the running of the game. When minimized, Windows kicks into normal usage but as the resource drain of the game itself is quite intense, then your system will definately slow down...

If you're gaming in full screen then you don't see the Aero effect so it has no relevance when gaming. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Compaq Desktop OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU AMD Sempron Dual Core Memory 3GB Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Screen Resolution 1024x768 Hard Drives 150GB Sata |

Well this program is not actually automated you must activate/deactivate gaming mode manually but I like this way better then having a program running in memory all the time! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number ME, myself & Irene / 001 OS Windows 7 x64 :) CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6 Ghz Motherboard Asus P5NE-SLI Memory 4 GB KingMax 800 Mhz DDR2 Graphics Card Asus GeForce 8800GT Sound Card onboard Realtek Monitor(s) Displays Samsung 22' Screen Resolution 1980x1080 Keyboard ? What you want to achieve is actually very easy. Just right-click the shortcut to the game you want to run and select properties. There go to compatibility and check "Disable Desktop Composition" or something along those lines, dunno how it's named in English, I have German OSs^^
With that Aero will be completely turned off aslong as the game is running, even if the game is minimized. When you end the game, Aero will kick back in.
Remember though you have to check this mark only once but for every game seperately! | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Myself^^ OS Vista and 7 Dualboot CPU AMD Phenom x4 9850 Black Edition @ 2.5ghz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA770 DS3 Memory 3GB DDR2 800mhz Graphics Card SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON HD4850 512mb Sound Card Realtek HD OnBoard Audio Monitor(s) Displays 2x 1440x900 19" Screen Resolution 2880x900 Keyboard Logitech G19 Mouse Razer Mamba PSU Be Quiet! 800w Case Aerocool iCurve Silver Cooling stock cooling Hard Drives 2.2TB space altogether Internet Speed DSL 2000 |
