    best headset

I've been playing Left 4 dead series and I need a good headset. I don't want a super long cord with it.

Just an FYI, you'd much rather have a cord thats too long than short, trust me. If the cord is too long, you can just wrap it up where it plugs into your computer.

Anyway, there are tons of Headsets out there nowadays, but most of them, even the ones that are "made for gaming" just aren't are good as they should be for the price. Here are the best gaming headsets for less than $80, see below if you have more to spend.

    Sennheiser PC 161 - $70
Sennheiser USA - PC Headset, gaming Headset, PC 161, Skype, VoIP - Private Audio

This headset is perfect for gaming. It's got great sound, a in cord volume adjustment panel, a mic mute on that same panel and a cord that's long enough without being 20 feet long. It's not too expensive either. I have a set of the PC 151's which are basically the same and they're really comfortable and the sound is amazing.

    -----

    Steelseries Siberia (v1/v2) Full Size - $80
    Audio - SteelSeries

I haven't personally tested these headphones, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. The sound quality is awesome apparently and they're comfortable too. They've got a decent size cord, in line volume control, pull out/removeable microphone and come in different colors (white/red/black).

By the way, I recommend these headsets mainly because of sound quality. You're likely to find headsets with more features, comfort, discount or other qualities, but if you're looking for the best sound, these are the headsets to buy. Also, if you have more money to spend, the higher end Senneheiser headsets are absolutely amazing. I'm actually considering dropping some cash on a set of these:

If you're looking for a more expensive set with a microphone, there's a really good deal on Sennheiser PC-350's right now at amazon.com. They normally run close to $160-200 but are on sale for $130.

Other headsets with good sound but no microphone:

Other gaming headsets with more features but less sound quality:

If you don't want a long cord, why don't you go cordless? I have 2 pair of headsets, 1 wireless and 1 bluetooth and I love them both.

Giving you the models I got won't help much since I purchased them both more than 2 years ago so I doubt if they are even available now a days but they will run less than 50 to 75 bucks if you are a smart consumer and do some searching.

check Newegg, amazon, woot, slick deals and/or goggle products daily and you'll find some in no time.

    Your budget?
If your budget under $50, then I can suggest this: http://www.sourcingmap.com/skype-com...m-p-35150.html Stereo Headphone for you. The length is very short, and it comes with a mini Microphon. Item is very lightweight and comfortable.
But if your budget is about $100. Then I suggest the Turtle Beach PX21 that's compatible with console and PC.

these are good - Logitech G35 7.1 surround..
    G35 Surround Sound Headset
they completely enclose the ear - noise cancelling - loads of controls
    - bit on the heavy side, very robust build - but the sound is brilliant..

Cords are gonna be an issue unless you go cordless. I have tried various kinds of "gaming" and "professional" headsets with mics and most of them are cheaply made and break easy. I am not a abusive user of my headphones but I don't want a headset I have to baby to keep working and functional. Now to that end I have came to my own conclusion that for under $100 it's near impossible to find something that will last for me. I have a 2yr old and I often take off my headset and toss it on my side desk and who knows what happens when I am not around my 2yr old.

Anyway, I have switched to a USB boom mic, $12 and works perfect in every game I play. As well I bought these at Bestbuy on sale for $49. PROVANTAGE: Sony MDRV500DJ MDR-V500DJ Studio Monitor Headphones They are sturdy, the headphones flip around and swivel so they wont get broke from being tweaked or pushed the wrong way and the cord which is curled works great because it will stretch if I swing my chair around or move over to the printer with my headset on. Sound is good for gaming but I do not buy headphones for Sound Quality as that's what my 5.1 surround sound is for.

    gaming headsets

I have used quite a few different gaming headsets but, the best resource I found to get an impartial view on them can be found at http://www.gamingheadsetreport.com, they are constantly adding new headset reviews.

My experience with headsets goes from the low end to the high end in the past 24months.

I started off with the Steelseries Siberia's These for the price are really good for playback. Not overly comfortable IMO though and the mic is really poor, with it being a clip on. It can take a while to set-up in TS/Vent/mumble till your happy with it.

After the steelseries, I went onto the Razer Carcharias. Miles apart from the SS an they should be given that they are nearly double in price. But they didn't last that long. After roughly 8 months of good solid gaming the left speaker cone started to go and on bassy impacts I could hear it vibrating. It seems this is a common trait with them and something I didn't see first of all when researching them. Whilst they worked though, they were really good. Could hear the sounds in various directions well, and gave a good advantage in FPS games.

Last september time, I went for the Sennheiser G4ME 360's. These were fresh on the market at the time and are openbacks. They have completely changed the way I hear things. I even listen to my music through them over my free standing speakers that I have. The openback does take some getting used too, as you do hear the background sounds around you, but once you have learnt to shut them out, my god! These just blow you away. Everything is crystal clear, really comfortable once broken in. They completely seal your ears for maximum sound. The boommic turns off when you push it up out the way. So no need to have a bind to turn the mic off. Volume control built into the right speaker, so no extra weight on the cord. If it wasn't for the mic being on them, I'd happily use them with my MP3 player too.

One other thing I'd like to add is, without a good soundcard, your not going to get the best out of your headset. I ran all 3 of those headsets through the Creativelabs Xtremegamer card which seriously helps with how you hear things. I say it everytime I talk to people in my clan, the single best upgrade I did was get that soundcard. 2 other people in my clan now have it, after hearing me banging on about it. They now understand why I go on about it, whentalking about upgrades.
