W7 Language packs - coming soon or not

    Hi all

I've had to revert ONE machine (only) back to VISTA SP2 (it's available via MSDN) so I could install some Scandanavian Language packs on it.

Unfortunately the VISTA SP2 language packs won't work with W7 so is there anybody "in the know" who has an idea when these might be available for W7.

I'd love to do some serious "User testing" with W7 but DO need the language packs -- whilst all of our users of course speak 100% decent English it's not the way they usually work.

BTW as one who essentially skipped VISTA and went straight from XP to W7 I find VISTA really frustrating

Once you've got used to the W7 task bar - with the screen re-sizing, and the whole works, these sorts of small features really change the way you work and you will miss them when they aren't there.

it's incredibly frustrating to find these aren't available in VISTA SP2. (Performance wise VISTA SP2 doesn't seem to bad but I want W7 on ALL the machines).

    Cheers

Where do you see these in WU? I don't see any LPs? Id' like the Norwegian LP for 7232.

START > All Programs > Windows update, click "xx optional updates are available" (image 1).

Choose Norwegian LP, click "OK" (image 2).

EDIT: My W7 is build 7100. Yours from torrent? It can be so that WU works completely only with build 7100?

My friend, a resident IT-guru in a big multinational IT-company, told me yesterday that for some reason these language packs and some other update features work only with the official RC-version of W7. According to him, "build 7100 is the latest officially released version and also latest which you can download from Microsoft. So any later build is unofficial, obtainable only from P2P-sites, and these unofficial builds lack the full functionality of W7".
