Well one of the biggest differances is that Windows XP only supports up to DirectX 9, while Windows 7 supports Directx 11; and the differance between directx 9 and directx 11 is HUGE.

    This video will better illustrate

I don't think the OP would be satisfied if he installs Win 7 with only 512 memory.

I'm sure there's tons of improvements for the "power user", but for the average Joe who plays Jewel Quest and uses Quicken, you'll probably be ok sticking with XP for awhile longer.

The only reason I left windows 98se, and upgraded to XP was because more and more software wasn't compatible with 98se.

So, I'll probably stick with XP until I start noticing a lot of software requiring Win7. As of today, I haven't run into that problem.

I would stick with XP until hardware is upgraded to what Windows demands and likes. IMHO chirag24 specs are not what it takes to get the job done with W7.

That is a difficult question. XP is a good operating system and stable. I liked it. 7 has more bling and is stable. In the future more software will be optimized for 7. All I can say is. I like 7 better then XP but I can't really say why.
You will need more memory to run 7 though :)

Some of the newer hardware also requires Vista or Win 7.

Especially not if the OP is going to ask extremely vague questions without putting any effort into learning the difference themselves.
