i just received my sony vaio yesterday installed with windows 7 pro and was charging the laptop and transferring music from my external hard drive. during this time i fell asleep and then woke up with the power to my house out. my laptop started to go through recovery mode and then ran out of battery life. today i charged and turned it on and all it said was bootmgr missing ctrl alt del to restart. i did this and the same message came up. how do i fix this?

You'll need a system repair disk or a windows install disk to launch startup repair. They should have been included with your laptop, but if not you can get one from wherever you purchased your laptop.

You don't need to double post, it gets confusing.

Try booting while tapping F8, see if Sony has placed the "Repair My Computer" console on the Advanced Boot Tools menu. If so, run Startup Repair repeatedly regardless of what it reports.

If this fails, use Command Line to make sure WIn7 partition is marked Active with Diskpart: Partition - Mark as Active then run Startup Repair again up to 3 separate times with reboots no matter what it reports.

If the Repair console isn't present on Advanced Boot Tools list, try Last Known Good Configuration.

If these options from Advanced Boot Tools won't work, download and burn to CD the Win7 Repair CD to try the steps given.
