WinRAR has a 30-day free trial and a very good repair function. I would try downloading it (WinRAR archiver, a powerful tool to process RAR and ZIP files), repairing the file, and then extracting it again with WinRAR.

Do you have any firewall running ?
    Try disabling it before downloading.
Also where are you saving the RAR files ?

Disable any security program you have, for the time being.

Try saving to the desktop. Many programs have trouble saving to C:\Windows and other OS locations.

You say it is only bigger rar files. What do you consider to be "big"? what is the size of the one you are opening? I recommend using IZArc for archive files. I've used a few different programs and it is by far the best I've used.
