No power icon in the taskbar

I just installed Win7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook, and there is no power icon in the taskbar. When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out. I've checked it with the netbook plugged in and on battery power and have the same issue. Any ideas?

    Hello Ele7en,

Sometimes a simple restart may restore the icon for you. If not, then you might see METHOD TWO or METHOD THREE for the power icon in the tutorial below may be able to help.

If you do decide to reinstall, then you might consider a repair install instead so that you do not lose anything.

Power icon missing on task bar

I have a netbook with Windows 7 Starter. I had the same problem (...there is no power icon in the taskbar. When I right click on the taskbar and choose properties, the power icon is turned off and the button that allows you to turn it on is greyed out....).

I read in an archived Windows Vista forum post that logging out and logging back in would fix the problem. It did for me. Thank you to that forum's administrator author!
