Yes, the HP stands for Home Premium. :) I am really doubting that this is a pest. I am running MSE and it is perfectly happy. I usually run the box as a standard user and am VERY careful about what I allow. I make my living fixing computers, and sadly much of that time is spent removing pests. I am comfortable with malewarebytes, combofix, rkill, hijackthis, etc. I WAS wondering if this might be some new badguy I haven't yet seen, but suspect instead that it is more likely generated by a tool trying to be helpful. Maybe something encouraging "greenness" powersaving, either from Windows or Macecraft or Scotty (WinPatrol). It would make the most sense if it were Windows. But so far none of those seem to be responsible. I continue to look for a source of the popup and suggestions are welcome. I have not seen it again, btw, but I will try to avoid a reboot to see if it comes back.

I have never seen such a pop up. Can you right click on it and get a drop down window. The HP for Home Premium is new to me also.

If it isn't malware then it is likely another useless utility installed by manufacturer.

This is why most tech enthusiasts when they gain the confidence find a clean-copy installer to reinstall just the OS after wiping the HD of the utility partitions.

Macecraft seems to be a Registry cleaner and optimizer neither of which Win7 need and can cause problems. No kind of tweaking is needed in Win7 as it will most always work against you.

WinPatrol also looks like something that could be accomplished much easier by only allowing programs into msconfig>startup which absolutely need to start with computer, like AV and gadgets. In order to run, it has to be just another freeloader on Startup itself.

The language is Turkish. I can not see where the guy is having the same problem. He seems to be talking about a Turkish to English dictionary/translator software.

Heh, I had already run it through a digital translator. Either it's nonsense or it just can't be translated literally. The bit in English, tho, is my popup word for word. Quite odd...
