| Windows 7: Weird Popup from Win7 |

Weird Popup from Win7 I started getting a very odd popup that I had never seen before from any OS. This was using Windows 7 HPx64. It reads: "Your computer appears to have been running non-stop for a long time. Please put the computer into hibernate or standby when not in use (on the start menu). You can also use the Windows power settings to make the system suspend automatically: see the Windows control panel options." Any thoughts on where this is coming from? Is it a new Windows popup? | My System Specs |

Yeah, a screenshot would go a long way when trying to figure out something.
As they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words"
It could be a prank program. I've never heard of Windows giving a message like that.

I had to reboot the system and the message is now gone. I have no idea how to make it return. Never seen it before on any OS.
I did capture it while it was there. I probably hadn't rebooted in a week or so. | My System Specs | | |

I have never seen this. I had computer running for months with no messages.
Try to install an antivirus, like Avast Free, and scan your computer.

We have six PCs in our house running Windows 7 Ultimate that are on 24/7 with no standby or hibernation. I can assure you I've never seen a weird pop-up as you describe. It is not intrinsically coming from Windows 7, but more likely something you may have installed, or was bundled in by the maker of your PC.
You hinted that this is an HP machine. My experience with HP is that they bundle in HP specific utilities and tools that are supposed to give you a "superior customer experience". I took great pleasure blowing away the hard drive on my HP laptop and installing Windows 7 Home Premium. No more helpful suggestions about maintenance from HP.
