How do I get rid of white sheet behind desktop shortcut

Just that, if I make a desk top short cut say of a website, a white sheet with the top right corner folded is behind the icon, how do I ger rid of them?

Ok I see what you mean but that is not what I want, I want to get rid of the sheet of folded paper but retain the blue F, am I making sense.
ah, i see now. sorry but my knowledge doesn't extend that far.
maybe you could just make or find an icon and replace it. that's my suggestion.

I posted this elsewhere, lots of great help but no solution, 'Ill try here.
Example, If I go to the Goggle website, reduce it so you can see your desktop, drag the Goggle icon to my desktop, the favicon appears with a white sheet behind it, I want to get rid of the white sheet but not change the favicon.
I know in XP there was a hack which would rid you of the large arrow that come with shortcuts, I am wondering if there is a hack for the above?
