Vista on a virtual machine??

Hello,

I have a laptop that was running vista x64 untill I upgraded to windows 7. Is it possible to install a copy of vista on a virtual machine program like virtualbox using the reinstalation CD? I still have my key for vista.

It looks like your processor does not support virtualization technology. To be sure I'm looking at the specs for the right CPU, open the start menu, right click Computer, and click properties. Under System, you should see a listing for your processor. Please tell me, yes or no, do you have the E2180? If so, your computer does not support virtualization.

IT does support virtulization, because I installed backtrack 4 on it earlier using virtualbox in windows. Worked perfectly.

I have installed three operating systems on a secondary computer using virtualbox and VMWare without my hardware supporting hardware virtualization. Dunno, but it does. H-man, it wouldn't hurt to try.

The CPU is definitely a little different than the one I was looking at. Intel still says that it does not have Intel virtualization technology but you might be able to get it working. It may not work as well, but sense you and lemur both claimed to have gotten working before (and even MS made a work around so that XP mode will work without it) you could always try.
