Everything tries to open with the same file!!

Hello, I just got my computer and I have windows 7 64 installed on it, and when i tried to open a media file with VLC media player, i checked that i always wanted to open that kind of file with VLC, now everything tries to open with VLC. When I try to open Mozilla, a game or anything it tries to open it with VLC . I can open other stuff, but then I have to use ''open with'' and then choose the EXE file for the thing im trying to use and I wonder how do i get it back to normal so i can just click on what i want and it automatically starts with the right program? I'm not very good at computers but some guidance would be great and if i'm in the wrong forum i apologize.

Can you do a system restore to a point in time before the change was made.

Restart the computer. During the BIOS splash screen tap F8 like your life depended on it. You should be able to launch a system restore from there.

Is there an option in VLC to not make it the default? There should be a list in the Options or Preferences menu. The list will have all file associations that VLC can open with. Maybe changing this in VLC will fix?
